10DLC: Business Texting Registration

3 min. readlast update: 04.28.2026

If your business wants to text message customers, then you’ll need a registered 10DLC. 10DLC, or 10-digit long code, is a local phone number approved for business texting in the U.S.

This article will discuss the 10DLC system, requirements, and common questions so you can start texting with confidence (compliance).

What is 10DLC?

10DLC allows you to use your local long-code phone numbers for business texting. To use this system, you must register with The Campaign Registry (TCR), a centralized database that handles 10DLC registration for wireless carriers. Also, as your Campaign Service Provider (CSP), we’re here to help you be compliant with these requirements and ensure that your messages are delivered to your customers with minimum disruption.

Additionally, U.S. wireless carriers have different requirements regarding pricing and volume limits. Even so, text messages allow you to connect with your customers more reliably—text messages have an 98% open rate, much higher than email.

Why do I need to register?

The industry has been working on ways to help support business messaging services and to regain trust from consumers with the messages they may receive. MNOs have begun implementing standards to validate businesses that send text messages to consumers. Providing visibility into the type of messages and where the message comes from allows the MNOs to provide more reliable and trustworthy messaging services. Failure to meet this new standard will result in potential fees and disruption to texting.

10DLC Compliance

Your business must follow regulations to remain compliant. It’s recommended that you:

  • Follow Know Your Customer (KYC) rules.

  • Follow carrier guidelines for messaging content.

  • Keep your use case up-to-date. If you change how you use texting, your registration must reflect accordingly.

10DLC Registration Process Steps

Once you have the required information based on our checklist, completing your 10DLC registration involves 5 simple steps.

  1. Choose a CSP

Your Campaign Service Provider (CSP) is your service provider that manages your texting campaigns and submits your registration to TCR. As a registered CSP, Mango Voice makes the registration process as seamless as possible.

  1. Complete Brand Registration

This involves submitting your legal and DBA company name, EIN, service address, website, and contact information. This allows TCR to validate that you are a legitimate sender.

  1. Complete Campaign Registration

Next, you’ll need to register your messaging campaign(s). Each campaign represents a specific use-case. For example, if you plan to use texting to handle appointments requests and customer service, you’ll need to submit both use-cases here.

This step will also ask you to submit sample messages, opt-in proof, and link to your privacy policy and terms.

  1. Await Approval

After submitting your registration request, Mango Voice will manually validate the information before submitting it to TCR and wireless carriers for review. If Mango Voice or TCR is missing information, we will notify you.

  1. Approved For Sending!

Once approved, we will attach your campaign ID to your designated texting number(s) so that you may begin sending text messages through your 10DLC number. Most businesses can complete registration in a few days, though timelines may vary a few factors.
