PREPARING A PROVISONED YEALINK DESKPHONE FOR RE-PROVISIONING

BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOU WILL NEED

1. An internet router that is switched on but NOT connected to the internet. This
is critical to success.
2. A PC with the latest stable Yealink firmware downloaded (90/95*.rom file) for the
Yealink desk phone to be reprovisioned. Again, having the ROM file downloaded
in advance is critical.
3. A Yealink phone whose ADVANCED MENU is accessible. The usual username is
admin but you won’t need to type this. The usual password on a desk phone is
23644466 which is just the word ‘admin’ typed in using the phone’s keypad. If
your phone has a different combination you need to find it from the person who
set it or if that does not work, by using Google and with some luck. If you cannot
access your phone’s Advanced Menu, these instructions will not work.

STEPS

Step 1: Plug in only the power cord only (not the ethernet cable) into the Yealink
phone. Access the ADVANCED MENU as described above and perform a RESET TO
FACTORY SETTINGS and REBOOT. The exact options may differ depending on the
existing firmware.
Step 2: After the phone has rebooted make sure ethernet is still not plugged in
and go back into ADVANCED MENU. Enable WEBSERVER (Port 80, http) under
Network. Then REBOOT.
Step 3: While phone fully reboots plug in an ethernet cable from the PC to the
Router and another one from the Phone to the Router. For both these
connections you may use any two LAN ports on the router. Since you have not
connected the Router to the Internet the WAN port on the router should have
nothing plugged in.
Step 4: When the phone has fully rebooted it should automatically get an IP
address from the router via DHCP. Press OK on the phone to know this address. It
should be of the form 192.168.x.y where x and y will depend on your setup. In
case you do not see an IP address reboot the phone by unplugging and re-plugging the power adapter.
Step 5: On the PC open a browser and use the IP address from Step 4 as the URL.
You should get a login screen for the YEALINK phone. If you do not, you did not
enable Webserver (port 80, http) properly. If you do get a login screen use
username: admin and password: admin to login. Once logged in go to the
SETTINGS>>UPGRADE to upgrade the firmware using the *.rom file previously
downloaded. Navigate to the ROM file on the PC and choose to upgrade by
following the steps. After this process completes reboot the phone again. Do not
refresh the browser or reboot the phone until the upgrade process is completed.
You should now be able to reprovision the phone for new service but one or even
two more reboots may be needed first. For reprovisioning you must call your new
provider and inform them that you have an unlocked and upgraded Yealink Desk
phone available.
